Welcome to Rootlum. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rootlum website, digital archives, and associated services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Rootlum Mission
Rootlum is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the open-source digital preservation of cultural heritage. Our platform aggregates, hosts, and disseminates research, 3D scans, and historical documentation regarding heritage sites, particularly those at risk.
2. User Contributions and Content
When you submit content (text, images, 3D models, data) to Rootlum, you agree to the following:
- Accuracy: You will strive to provide historically and factually accurate information. Deliberate falsification of cultural data is strictly prohibited.
- Licensing: Unless otherwise explicitly agreed upon, content submitted to the public archive is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.
- Ownership: You represent that you have the right, title, or necessary permissions to submit the content and grant the aforementioned license. You retain your personal copyright to your original work.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to engage in any of the following activities on the Platform:
- Posting content that promotes the looting, vandalism, or destruction of cultural heritage sites.
- Uploading malicious code, viruses, or attempting to breach the Platform's security.
- Scraping the Rootlum database for commercial exploitation without prior written consent.
4. Intellectual Property
The Rootlum name, logo, site design, and proprietary code are the intellectual property of the Rootlum Heritage Foundation. You may not use these without our prior written consent. The heritage data hosted on the platform belongs to the respective contributors and is governed by the open-source licenses attached to them.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform and its historical data are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind. While we strive for academic accuracy, Rootlum does not guarantee the absolute correctness, completeness, or reliability of user-submitted historical data.
